Hudema is a climate troll and posts absolute horseshit on LinkedIn all the time. There is no basis for his view of a reef at temperature of 1.5C higher than today or any point in history you want to pick. The arrogance of these climatocatastrophists to decide their ideal choice of daily weather is what they think should be the standard! The weather is variable and climate has been changing since the planet was formed. The climate cult wants to ignore science and push their version of non science and claim all climate change is modern human caused - which is not true.

Without proof, I’ll say that SOMETIME in the history of the Earth, the ocean temperature was higher (and colder) than today. Yet the reefs exist, obviously because of magic. Or something…

The Stable Earthers just can't get enough of their own voices in the echo chamber, can they? I bet Hudema's favorite thing to do is "travel," too ... in a jet powered by magic beans, or is it 850 gallons of jet fuel per hour of operation? ;-P

The Stable Earthers will eventually come around to the idea that the Earth's climate changes continuously ... always has, always will, and may even change catastrophically. When it does, it always makes cool rocks!

I think there is no bigger proof that nature finds a way than Chernobyl. The place is absolutely cooking with radioactivity, and yet wildlife thrives there. Take a geiger counter to a mouse in the area and it will go nuts, yet there are mice.

This won't be the first time the oceans breach that arbitrary 2C barrier that will kill us all, nor will it be the last. As far a humans go, something will get us sooner or later, it's the nature of things.

My apologies for being so late to the party. Hasn't the global temp already warmed 1.5 degrees? If so, is there direct evidence (carcasses of dead coral lying around) that their math is correct?

More preposterously bad reasoning from the climate doomsters.

It's not the heat but the cold that threatens symbiotic corals. They cannot survive in waters below about 20C, but do very well in places where it's always warm, like the equatorial waters around New Guinea, which are a pretty consistent 30C +. The Red Sea, parts of which regularly reaches 35C, is a snorkelers' paradise.

The larger picture is that we are very much in an ice age, the most intense in at least 250 million years. We probably aren't even halfway through it, either. In all likelihood, our planet has millions of years of glacial outbreaks in its immediate geologic future, which will bring icebergs to Key West, and kill all the coral reefs outside a narrow equatorial belt. Humans won't fare much better.

A couple of degrees of warmth are a blessing, not a curse. Warmth is life. But cold is death, as our descendants will find out the hard way, in a few centuries or less, when the Holocene peters out and the slide into glacial conditions begins in earnest.

Those guys want a cooler planet? They should be careful what they wish for.
