Comrade of the Stack
warned us:Live in fear. Indoctrinate children to be anxious and obedient so they also live in fear - it's for their own good. The world is ending because humans are sinning and everyone will die unless we repent.
The only salvation is to give governments and allied corporations more emergency powers, wealth, and taxes. Zealots worship the clergy like sheep following a shepherd, virtue signal adherence to their holy commandments, and evangelize others to comply - even if the rituals don't work.
Step aside Mz Stacey (the “biking activist” and phone using while driving motorist who can’t pass a stopped vehicle in a “protected” cycletrap) there’s a new kid in town, well actually two of them .
This week, Corporate Press rag Washington Post wrote a tweet stating:
“Protesters smeared paint on the case and pedestal of Edgar Degas’s “Little Dancer Aged Fourteen” sculpture in the National Gallery of Art in D.C. to bring attention to the climate crisis and demand that President Biden declare a climate emergency.”
The tweet, linked here , also contains a short video and a link to an article. The images below are clips taken from the video. The article is an archived version as to not provide WaPoop with additional clicks.
While many will likely be drawn to their act of smearing paint (likely made from oil) on the sculpture’s protective box (also likely made from oil), there’s also something to what they said.
The sloppily dressed manchild starts early in the video with a screeching, “I’m sorry,” presumably responding to others just outside the frame of the video who appear to sound distressed as he begins to smear paint on the protective enclosure.
Later in the clip the two individuals are sitting in front of the sculpture after the majority of their vandalism had been completed.
The woman speaks, “[inaudible] is beautiful, and we’re destroying it with climate change. We need our leaders to take serious action, to tell us the truth about what’s happening with the climate.”
Oh please.
Then the manchild, “We are adults, we should be at home working. I have a job that requires health and safety but I can’t do my job unless I have a government that does their job looking out for the health and safety of our children.”
Talk about weaponized empathy!
The facts and the truth here are that these are two immensely privileged middle aged narcissistic statist bootlickers.
The Washington Post tweet and reporting is typical of the Corporate Press which as Michael Malice often says, “is factual but not truthful.”
For starters, it appears to be their reporting that’s demanding President Biden declare a state of emergency, not the protesters themselves.
Or at least they’re not saying so in the clips provided by the WaPoop.
Washington Post isn’t reporting on the story, they’re instead writing a 50 Shades of Grey type erotica for their elite and woke customers and useful idiots who buy into this nonsense because it’s “progressive.” (Looking at many of you here in California who are ruining this great state!)
Who, for one, can take time off their “job” they work from home, go to a museum in one of the nation’s most expensive and exclusive cities, vandalize a sculpture, and walk away in handcuffs with likely little repercussion?
Who has the time and resources to vandalize a sculpture for the purpose of “raising awareness” of an issue that largely only people in the developed world, and more often than not in the elitist classes even have time to think about let alone protest? No seriously, the millions living in poverty even here in the United States are not letting the climate doom religion live rent-free in their heads. Similarly with the billions outside the US, many of whom live in immense energy and material poverty. The ill-fitting suits on these two petulant brats even if they came from a thrift store are likely worth more than the net worth of millions in the impoverished world.
And who is going to clean up their mess? Likely someone whose paid relatively low, especially for an expensive city such as Washington DC struggling to make ends meet while these two rotten children go back to their laptop/pajama class jobs which are likely providing little value to society as is typical with anything these types touch.
Christopher Lasch in his book, The Revolt of the Elites, describes these petulant brats with searing precision:
The thinking classes are fatally removed from the physical side of life… Their only relation to productive labor is that of consumers. They have no experience of making anything substantial or enduring. They live in a world of abstractions and images, a simulated world that consists of computerized models of reality – “hyperreality,” as it’s been called – as distinguished from the palatable, immediate, physical reality inhabited by ordinary men and women.
Lasch, a well known social critic who predicted the rise of narcissistic culture in the US over a decade ago would likely not believe how spot on his predictions were especially when it comes to the “protest” culture and tactics of the Woke Elites.
Also, Lasch:
Control has become their obsession. In their drive to insulate themselves against risk and contingency – against the unpredictable hazards that afflict human life – the thinking classes have seceded not just from the common world around them but from reality itself.
The Washington Post article doesn’t dive into the identity of the two vandals either.
Recalling our piece The Stench of BO, Corporate Journalism, which yes includes party-state media such as NPR, CBC, and the BBC, serve far more of an activism role than a reporting one.
This Washington Post piece does the same.
They are not reporting on this incident, they are platforming it.
Instead they interview a fiat academic who practically supports their vandalism and fails to cite her “research” backing her claims, emphasis ours.
Climate activists are turning to these types of disruptive tactics because they feel the world is running out of time to curb catastrophic, irreversible warming, said Dana R. Fisher, a University of Maryland sociology professor who studies protests and social movements. She noted suffragists had slashed artwork in the past, and these recent protests target protective casings or frames as opposed to damaging the art.
The point, Fisher says, is to draw attention. And research shows these kinds of “radical tactics” can persuade people who are sympathetic to the climate issue to be more supportive of moderate perspectives, she said.
“This is purely performative protest. It’s disruption as shock,” Fisher said. “Nobody’s going to like these guys for throwing paint at Little Dancer … but that’s okay. That’s not their point. If the goal here is to get general attention and to shift the conversation to focus more on climate change, there’s a lot of evidence that this is more effective.”
It takes a phenomenal amount of disconnection from every day normal people to come to such conclusions but that’s not a surprise to anyone familiar with Ivory Tower and Coastal Elite Woke narcissistic drama.
It’s not about “raising awareness,” either, it’s instead about narcissistic control and satisfying the fetishes of the Woke Green Elite and their useful idiots.
“The facts and the truth here are that these are two immensely privileged middle aged narcissistic statist bootlickers.”
Why do these people always carry themselves the same way? The modern “technocrat” is becoming relatively easy to spot out in the wild, IMO.
As an aside, I bumped into one at the sauna the other day and had a very friendly debate (my perspective, anyway). He was very persistent on themes of depopulation, etc. I countered him while also acknowledging that I was in fact a deep nature lover. His immediate and infuriated retort was “how can you claim to “love nature” without being an “activist” [paraphrased]. My response was simply that once you reach a point of absolute activism on any subject, you’ve lost yourself to nihilism.
He avoids me now.
I suggest that these “intellectuals” are really nothing but spoiled brats. They have been a pain in someone’s posterior from the day they formed their first full sentence, and continue to this day. The WaPoop only makes an ass out of itself by platforming these losers. Get a job, a real job.
