The histrionic personality style is, as
noted in last week’s Disaffected Podcast, is everywhere including (in his words) with the self-styled friends of Mother Earth. To say that Josh nailed it is an understatement.
Green Leap Forward is, well, leaping up and down, at the fact that Josh finally got around to covering these petulant “environmental” hysterics.
Josh isn’t the only one to have caught onto this.
To toot a horn:
also came up with the label to describe such Noble Saviors of Gaia: “CADS.”CADS is short for Climate Alarm Derangement Syndrome, which flies quite well off the tongue.
What does CADS look like in the wild?
Get out your mask (and straightjacket.)
First of all we have a hot-headed still-masked activist type, who will be named in this piece as Maskpolean Dynamite. MD whines of this summer’s, ahem, weather, as a turning point in climate doomerism.
“Radical mass action” he writes is needed to apparently fix this problem, and of course as typical of the annoying petulant types, he wants it, now.
The authoritarian tone here rings strong in ths one. The chances we dear readers are dealing with someone with a bonafide authoritarian and fundamentalist mindset is just as obvious as water being wet.
warned of these types in his piece simply titled Activists:My concern is with activists and what they will do when their efforts to achieve their most extreme demands fail. At some point even these people will realize that annoying people by blocking traffic and vandalizing priceless works of art is not causing people to flock to their cause. What then? With the United Nations issuing a report called a “code red for humanity,” activists replacing the term “climate change” with “climate catastrophe,” and activist organizations adopting names like “Extinction Rebellion” and “the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement”, it is inconceivable that these people will simply give up, get a job, and raise a family. Like all “good” people with utopian dreams or dystopian nightmares, there will come a time when the most “dedicated” of the activists will conclude that violence is the only solution.
Well, I’m not personally betting on this guy actually being violent but that doesn’t mean others will take his place.
Perhaps, masked Napoleon Dynamite, er, Hill is getting a little out of hand with his words?
Well, hold that thought.
In “Capitalism is the Root of the Climate Crisis,” written on 11 June of this year, he opens with:
Tuesday night the reality of the climate crisis struck, again, as I walked out of the subway into a city that looked dramatically different than it had an hour before. Smoke clouded my view, obscuring the buildings around Central Park, and the air smelled as though I was standing near a bonfire. For the first time since Spring 2020 I took a long walk in a mask. Wednesday started slightly better, but as most of you probably saw the sky proceeded to grow yellow, then orange, blotting out the New York skyline. This is the first time wildfire smoke has covered NYC so severely.
If only he’d come out West1 he’d realize this is all “the new normal,” along with this:
Naturally too, despite the constant doom and gloom from the Corporate Press, he doesn’t feel they’re covering it how he feels it should be covered.
A secondary effect of the drastic increase in climate disasters is, as we know, increasing media around these events. Yet, so often this coverage is failing us, failing life on Earth, failing to inform people about what will likely be one of, if not the most profound and disruptive paradigm shift of our lives.
In another piece, he whines about certain billionaries messing up the Corporate Press because they don’t cover the climate crisis in the way he feels it should.
But is there anything to the image of the headline he posted?
Well yes, but ironically, not quite in the way he likely feels it does.
First of all, the article shows what looks to be a happy child enjoying his time cooling off at a public fountain.
It’s the last thing from the typical CADS doom and gloom.
CADS sufferers have a strange thing with children: they in one part believe “we” should stop having procreating because humans are, in their view, a parasite to the Noble Gaia, and another part they wonder why would anybody want to raise a child into such a dystopian boiling world.
That doesn’t mean they’ll invole children though, living ones, typically their own, in what Nassim Taleb calls pedophrastry , which he defines as:
Argument involving children to prop up a rationalization and make the opponent look like an asshole, as people are defenseless and suspend all skepticism in front of suffering children: nobody has the heart to question the authenticity or source of the reporting. Often done with the aid of pictures.
brought up the Holy Greta in a comment to our dear masked Gaia Savior along with one of the “prophecies” she screamed back in 2018.
They were, of course, willing to prop up a literal child, one who likely needed help but was instead cast by shitty parents to fulfull their narcissistic demands.
As if there isn’t no greater coinsidence on earth, five summers ago, the BBC ran a similar headline to the posted by Maskedpolian Dyanmite dating from…. 2018.
It also pictures a smiling kid while cooling off in a fountain.
(It’s almost as if it’s a Mashup. )
The 2023 article, doesn’t actually contain much of the doom and gloom a CADS sufferer would likely be looking for.
While Maskedpolian Dyanmite bickers about “capitalism” being the cause of the “climate crisis” in his other posts, what he fails to acknowledge, to no surprize, is that Korea (er, SOUTH Korea’s) turn to relative capitalism not only brought it into the modern industrialized world, but brought much propserity to her citizens.
Contrast that to the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea.
The oppression is so bad south of the dimiliterized zone, that workers had their hours adjusted by their Capitalist Pig employers to help them stay out of the hottest times of the heat wave, and as indicated in the headline, they were given ice vests, which could not have been provided without (gasp!) cheap, abundant fossil fuels.
The Big Evil Petrochemical Corporation, LG Chem Ltd., of all despots, were the ones who offered the ice vests.
It was, per the article over 100 participants in the World Scout Jamboree suffered heat illness , the serious, yet not life threatening first step towards heat stroke. The event appeared to be outside in the open, in other words, not sheltered from the heat.
British reality TV star, urine-drinker, and “survival expert” Bear Grylls spoke at the event, with head drenching in sweat.
However, between the water, emergency services, and the South Korean PM’s plea to the Minister of Gener Equality and Family, things did not get worse for the event’s participants. In fact, heat illness, is incredibly easy to avoid.
No word on the DPRK though, which sadly had people suffer in ways far more imaginable than any of us could imagine.
Please don’t, we’re full, plus it’s not NYC anyways
Violence is always the ultimate move. These are the same individuals who hate guns, but love to use the State's guns against you.
Why don’t the CADS sufferers lead by example? They could just stop expelling CO2. That would help save the planet and they could stop all the worry and histrionics.
