Who would ever think Alberta could get cold in January? I take exception to your statement, “There is nothing wrong with renewables.” Mr. Lund. If your life depended on “renewable energy” only, with no backup, you would not have been able to write that sentence.

The work of Dr. Keefer is incredibly insightful and important. Thanks for the article Leap.

With all the untapped hydro resources in Canada, it seems crazy to try to force intermittent solar and wind in that nation. Solar, in particular, gets less efficient the further North that you go in the Northern hemisphere.

Remember one vital fact, whatever color energy you prefer. That, High Income Nations consume extremely high levels of energy. So do you. Now whatever transition and type

of technology you may prefer is inconsequential. It is also ANTI Ecological and Impossible (for all 8 billion people)

There is nothing wrong with renewables. Wind and solar are great. At present, however, I do think that an all-in shift toward renewables should be backed up by nuclear and natural gas.

Nuclear is much better for the environment than most realize. Natural gas, when used to power Combined Cycle Gas Turbines, create few emissions and breaches 60 percent thermal efficiency.

Au contraire, there's a lot wrong with wind and solar, one being the ginormous amount of materials (read mining) they require compared to NatGas and nuclear. Also, their extremely low energy density means they require huge amounts of land, often agricultural land. That, of course, is a plus for the WEF crowd who want to starve at least a billion poor, superfluous souls to save our 'endangered' planet.
